DDR Bamenda: North-West Regional Assembly President implores ex-Amba combattans to persuade their former comrades in arms to also surrender

The President of the North-West Regional Assembly, Prof. Fru F. Angwafo III, has hailed ex-separatist fighters in the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Centre in Bamenda for heeding to President Paul Biya’s call for them to drop their arms and leave the bushes, to join the state in peace building and the reconstruction of the region they so hold dear at heart.

The Regional Assembly boss, who during the visit donated foodstuff, comprising of 10 bags of Rice, 10 bags of flour, 2 bags of Irish potatoes, 40 litres of palm oil, 1 bag of onions and other basic commodities to the ex - associates, used the occasion to urge them to persuade their former comrades-in-arms who are still in the bushes to also drop their arms and join them at the DDR centre for a total return to peace and normalcy in the Region.

“You are the leaders of today and tommorow, so dare to be ambassadors of peace. Tell your friends who are still in the bushes to also drop their weapons as you people have done,” Prof. Fru Angwafo III told the ex- associates.

Expressing happiness and gratitude for the visit and the gifts received, the Senior Prefect of the centre, on behalf of the ex-combattants appreciated Prof. Fru Angwafo III and team and pledged to be the peace advocates “their father" has asked them to be. They also promised to be part of President Biya’s vision for one and indivisible Cameroon — to join the Head of State in his resolve to put an end to the crisis and work for the return of total peace and normalcy in the Region.

On his part, the Regional coordinator of the centre, Mr Kum Henry Ichu thanked Prof. Fru Angwafo III and team for their outing which serves as the first official visit to their permanent site and the commitment the Regional Assembly has taken to be active part of the re-integration process of the ex-combattans.


Prof. Fru Angwafo III was accompanied by the Commissioner for Economic Development, Hon. Ghejung Awunti, Secretary 1, Hon. Kalak flavius Boteh, Director of General Affairs, Alombah Anderson Akondi, Justus Ashiyi Mbinkar, Specoalised Financial controller and a whole host of collaborators.
