Total Energies AFCON 2021: Mascot "Mola" in Bamenda

  The population of Bamenda, North West Region on Thursday, December 16, 2021 received  in ululation, the official Mascot of Total Energies African Cup of Nations ( AFCON) 2021. Mola was recieved, on behalf of North West Regional Governor by Viang Mekala, Secretary General to the said Governor's Office at the Governor's Office courtyard before handing him over to the population for jubilation. Mekala, infront of a cross section pressmen at the Courtyard of the Givernor's Office, thanked President Paul Biya for having worked tooth and nail to have Cameroon host AFCON 2021. The Governor's representative equally hailed the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi for having thought and included North West in the Masot parade itinerary despite the fact that North West does not have a pool for the play of AFCON 2021. North West Region: COMINSUD Schools Over 50 Against Hate Speech.

A Non Governmental organization, Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (COMINSUD) in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation, Yaounde, has drilled over 50 persons on hate speech and its concomitant effect on social cohesion within North West Region. This was during a one-day training workshop organized at the Bamenda EPIC Centre on Thursday, November 18, 2021. The workshop that was held under the theme: eliminating extremism amongst youths for a safer, secured and non-violent North West Region, brought together religious leaders, communication experts, youth leaders, community leaders, and other stakeholders across various communities within the North West Region. The workshop, according to the organizers falls within the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation’s program that focuses on conflict hotspots and is supported by the European Union. New Bui SDO Commissioned into Office.

Newly installed SDO, Mr Menyong Gilbert Sunday The new Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, Mr Menyong Gilbert Sunday was on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Tobin Municipal Stadium, Kumbo given the Command baton for the Division.  Commissioning the SDO into function, the Governor of North West Region, Mr Adolph  Lele Lafrique urged Mr Menyong to mobilise the population in order to bring back peace in Bui. This, the Governor asked the SDO to do through maximum cooperation between the security and the population. "The security officers can only succeed when the SDO, the security and the population work together", he affirmed. THE MINISTER OF COMMUNICATION CALLS ON PUBLISHERS AND DISTRIBUTORS TO COMPLY TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE 1990 SOCIAL COMMUNICATION LAW

Minister of communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi Minister, Rene Emmanuel Sadi has called on publishers and distributors to more than ever before respect the December 1990 law on the Freedom of Social Communication. This aforementioned law among other provisions states publishers deposit two signed copies of every newspaper at the external or central services of the Ministry of Communication no later than two hours after publication. The law also requires foreign media outlets deposit two copies of newspapers at the ministry of communication, at least 24 hours before making them  go public. LATE HONORABLE SIMON ACHIDI ACHU FINALLY LAID TO REST IN SANTA

The iconic State man has been interred in his Native home town of Santa, Mezam Division, Northwest Region of Cameroon, today July 3rd 2021. Operation Bui Clean: General Nka Valere salutes bravery of security forces, cautions them to espect Humanitarian Principles

The Commander of the 5th military Region, Brigadier General Nka Valere has appreciated the work done by soldiers during the military operation code name "Bui Clean". For 33 days Operation "Bui clean" headed by colonel Matiang Charles Alain with over 300 men had as mission clean up the entire bui Division and her environs. The operation which started on May 15, 2021 permitted the troops to get to the hideout of seperatists within the Division which is considered to be the epicenter of seperatists within the northwest region. At the close of this operation, the Commander of the 5th Military Region Brigadier General NKA Valere was in Kumbo chief town of the Bui Division to assess the work done on the field. Brigadier General Nka Valere While presenting the result of the over 32days operation, Colonel Matiang Charles Alain said the operation was not easy just like the previous operation in bui given the topography which made it very difficult to access some of the area.

Military liberates nine hostages in Pinyin, says Bamenda - Babadjou road is secured

Freed hostages Nine young men kidnapped on the night of April 11, 2021 by separatist fighters in Pinyin, a locality in Santa Subdivision, Mezam Division of the North West region have been freed by security and defense forces during a targeted operation they carried out. According to the commander of the 5th Joint military region, Brigadier General Nka Valere, two separatist fighters were also killed and many others injured. The operations he said came as a result of threats from separatist fighters to block circulation along the Bamenda - Babadjou road. While handing over the freed hostages to their family members Sunday April 18 in Bamenda, Brigadier General Nka Valere and Ekongwese Divine called on more collaboration from the population so as to secure them and their assets. Agho Oliver, Member of Parliament for Tubah/Bafut, this Thursday morning made an on-the-spot visit and assessment of the distruction caused by the unfortunate sink caused by the heavy rains of yesterday, and that led to the obstruction of traffic and destruction of property. Operation Bui 1: 12 separatist fighters neutralised, camps destroyed

Colonel Matiang Charles Alain, commander of the 51st motorized infantry brigade has disclosed that 12 separatist fighters have neutralised, several camps destroyed and locally fabricated weapons retrieved in Bui Division by forces of law and order during an operation dubbed "Operation Bui 1". The information was disclosed to Brigadier General Nka Valere, commander of the 5th Joint military region and other military officials during a visit to Kumbo to evaluate the 8-days operation. The operation which lasted for 8-days saw the military destroying camps in Yelum, Verkovi, Tatum, Nkor and Kumbo. "General Asan" was also neutralised, others injured during the operation. FREED HOSTAGES OF THE NTANKAH MILITARY RAID REUNITE WITH THEIR FAMILIES

The two students and other freed captives  from the Ntankah Military raid of Saturday, February 6th 2021,  were this afternoon handed over to their respective families, by the commander of the North West Gendermarie Region, Colonel Boum Bissoue. These families couldn't hide their joy, for getting back theirs in one piece. This was done in the presence of the Principal of the school the students attend and the Regional Delegate of secondary Education for the North West, Mr Ngwang Roland. The families thanked the military for the great job well done and promised their unflinching collaboration and  support behind the military to crack down terrorist activities in the region. NORTH WEST: POPULATION COLLABORATES MORE AND MORE WITH THE MILITARY TO CRACK DOWN SEPERATIST ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION.

A mix detachment of defense and security forces made up of the army, gendarmes and the police carried out military raid at a seperatist camp in Ntankah, Mankon. An operation in which  4 seperatist fighters were neutralized, 4 others captured  and some 4 hostages freed from captivity. The freed hostages comprised of 2 students, and 2 men who all acknowledged the timely intervention of the military on Saturday February 6th 2021. One of these hostages was hit by a stray bullet but is fast responding to treatment at the hospital. This happened  in the early hours of February, 6th 2020, where the defense and security forces hit unannounced.  For the balance sheet, the operation harvested 2 Ak47,  6 automatic rifles, 4 pistols, artisanal guns, canons, gun powder, phones, fetish items, marijuana, IEDs  and other items have been seized by the military.
