NW Regional Assembly, Smile Train engage community health workers to identify cleft cases

Participants at the workshop Some 84 community health workers in the North West region have been schooled on how to easily identify cleft lip and palate and offer cleft care to patients in their communities. This was the focus of a two-day workshop organized by Smile Train, a charitable organization, in partnership with the North West Regional Assembly. The training took place on Thursday September 28 and Friday 29 in Bamenda. The community health workers selected from  20 health districts in the North West region were drilled by experienced Doctors on the prevalence of cleft lip and palate in the North West region, challenges faced by cleft lip patients, identification and how to refer them for treatment and the use of cleft care companion application to register patients. DONGA MANTUNG NWRA: Promoting youth empowerment and engagement through HILA Projects

Youths receiving their work tools The Peace and Development committee for Donga Mantung, last Wednesday May 17, 2023, officially launched the   Human high Intensity Labour Approach (HILA) project for Nwa Sub-Division.  PDC members during the launch  During the launch that took place at Nwa Community Hall, some 141 youth that have been selected as beneficiaries to work in the execution of the manual maintenance of the Nwa – Ntong communal road project in Nwa Sub Division,  Donga Mantung Division, were handed work tools for the realization of the said project.  According to the Divisional coordinator for PDI, Donga Mantung,  Hon. Kalak Flavius Boteh,  this road project is to be realized to the tune of thirteen million, three hundred and seventy two thousand four hundred andfifty six (13,372,456) FCFA, where in the sum of 6,292, 920 FCFA shall be for the supply of durable equipment for the realization of the project and  7,079,536 FCFA for the beneficiaries who effectively carry out the p

North West:5th Joint Military Region Graduates Forty IED Detectives.

The Commander of the 5th Joint Military Region, Brigadier General Nka Valère presided over the graduation ceremony of some 40 combined Defense and Security Forces (Army, Gendarme and Police) who completed a three-week indepth training on Improvised Explosive Devices' (IEDs) detection. The graduation ceremony took place on Friday,  April 08,  2022 at the Up station, Bamenda Headquarters of the 5th Joint Military Region. Speaking during the event,  Gen. Nka divulged that a spiral of targeted attacks on the defense and security forces as well as on civilians in 2021 necessitated the first training in June 2021 which saw an earlier graduation of 30 trainees whose results have been palpable on the field. "For the past 06 months, they have been capable of detecting and detonating over 90% of IEDs laid in ambush for the defense and security forces as well as the population in North West Region."
